Apple Health export to CSV, in your browser
Turn the export.zip from Health into CSV files you can open in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets: one file per kind of data, or everything at once. It runs on your device and nothing is uploaded.
Your file is read in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, stored or sent anywhere.
Getting your export
- Open Health on your iPhone.
- Tap your photo, top right.
- Scroll down and tap Export All Health Data.
- Choose the export.zip above, then download the data you need.
Questions
Is my health data uploaded?
No. The export is read in this browser tab and the CSV is built there too. There is no server that could receive it. The page loads Google Analytics to count visits; it never sees your file.
How large an export can it handle?
The file is read as a stream rather than loaded whole, so a very large export takes longer rather than running out of memory. Phones are slower than computers; for a multi-gigabyte export, use a computer.
What is in the CSV?
One row per record, with Apple's own fields: type, source, unit, start date, end date and value. Dates keep the time zone Apple wrote them in.
Will it open in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets?
Yes. The file is UTF-8 with a byte-order mark, so Excel shows accented device names correctly.
Are workouts included?
Not yet. This exports records, which covers every measurement from steps and heart rate to sleep. Workouts are stored differently in the export and are not in the CSV.
Rather see it than read a spreadsheet?
Wall of Truth turns the same data into a year of squares on your iPhone, updated automatically, with a widget on your Home Screen.
